About the Author
John F. Bibby is professor emeritus of political science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a nationally recognized scholar in the field of political parties and elections. He is a past chair of the political parties section of the American Political Science Association and the 2001 recipient of the section's Samuel J. Eldersveld Lifetime Achievement Award. In addition to this book, his is the author of PARTY ORGANIZATIONS IN AMERICA, TWO PARTIES OR MORE? THE AMERICAN PARTY SYSTEM, GOVERNING BY CONSENT: AN INTRODUCTION TO AMERICAN POLITICS, and ON CAPITOL HILL: STUDIES IN THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS.
Brian F. Schaffner is an associate professor of political science at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He received his PhD from Indiana University; and his research on political parties, voting behavior, and the media has been published in the AMERICAN POLITICAL SCIENCE REVIEW, the AMERICAN JOURNAL OF POLITICAL SCIENCE, POLITICAL RESEARCH QUARTERLY, PUBLIC OPINION QUARTERLY, LEGISLATIVE STUDIES QUARTERLY, and POLITICAL COMMUNICATION.

Easy to read, not overly wordy, suits its purpose........

It's not the most amazing textbook ever written, but it is easy to understand, well-written, not overly wordy, and fits its usage. I read it for a political science course, and I would not purchase it other than for that purpose, but it was an interesting book, as far as textbooks go, if you're interested in political science in the first place. I think you can breeze through it pretty easily if you possess college-level reading capabilities of any variety. Buy it on Amazon; it's a heck of a lot cheaper here than anywhere else.

This book is a concise, informative, and interesting read. I had to buy this book for my Political Parties, Voters, and Elections class and it was a good resource. I would recommend for anyone studying political parties, voters, and elections in the US.
