"Theories texts are important and cover a wide breadth of information. However, counselors are often looking for more applied information on how to actually go about the process of assessment and vocational counseling. This book is a wonderful addition to a theories text. I love that there are sample profiles for each of the instruments. No course has enough time for students to learn every instrument their future jobs will require of them. However, this allows them to be aware of what the instruments look and feel like."

About the Author
Debra S. Osborn (Ph.D., Florida State University) is an associate professor in the department of Counselor Education at Florida State University. She has an established program of research with three specific foci. These include the design and use of technology in counseling, innovation and effectiveness in counselor education, and the design and use of assessments in career services. Dr. Osborn is passionate about career counseling, having served as president of the National Career Development Association and as a counselor educator for almost two decades.
Vernon Zunker is a retired professor from Southwest Texas State University. He earned his Ed.D. with an emphasis on counseling from the University of Houston and completed a residency in clinical psychology at the University of Texas Medical School at Galveston. Although retired from teaching, Dr. Zunker continues to push the discipline forward by keeping career counseling relevant to all counseling students.

This is required reading for my graduate counseling course...CACREP requires career counseling. this book is very well written, has a good lay out and very useful

Incredibly thorough--you could only use this book

If you are looking for a book to tell you EVERYTHING about assessments and how to use them, this is your Bible. It's incredibly thorough and gives you all the info you need. I skipped around because I only use some of the assessments that they talk about, but it's the guidebook through all the familiar ones and even gives some case studies. I'd recommend it for anyone who works with clients, adult or teen, who wants to have a good handle on what all of the assessments do.

A great textbook for Career Counseling. It's definitely a keeper. It was amazing learning the details that go into counseling clients for choosing a career. This is by "go-to" manual for helping my people make a fulfilling career choice.
